Hi, I’m Lisa Hua

M.C. Registered Psychologist

My Specialties

My specialty areas are OCD and Anxiety disorders, and I also enjoy working with people who have multiple mental health diagnoses causing trouble at once or who are reluctant about therapy.

I have a special interest in harm and contamination OCD symptoms (though I can work with all types of symptoms!) and I’m experienced in helping clients take back their time and freedom when symptoms are negatively affecting day to day life, social relationships, and functioning at work or school.

I enjoy working with people of all ages but have special skill with older teens and young adults. In addition to training to help adults with OCD I have further specialized training to work with OCD in children and adolescents. I have lots of experience collaborating with family members or parents who are involved in their loved one’s treatment, whether for OCD or for other concerns.

Other Areas I work in

I also work with a wide array of concerns including emotion regulation issues, mood disorders, ADHD and trauma. I have a number of trainings to help people with trauma and emotional concerns, including EMDR and DBT.

I enjoy helping people who are navigating complex relationship dynamics, such as feelings of resentment, guilt, or difficulties with boundaries. I also love to support people with issues around being self-critical, feeling judged by others, and feeling out of control

If you want help with something that you don't see listed here, please let me know and we can arrange a 15-minute free consultation to discuss our work together.

Who I Work With

Therapy with me has an intentional focus and we will work towards achieving your goals. I work best with clients wanting to be curious about their own experiences in the world and make changes.

I'm compassionate and open minded and love to use humor in my work, and I value transparency and trust as fundamental to the work I provide. I am a straight shooter who will communicate directly but also have a calm demeanour and loads of patience in helping those who are having trouble getting started. I have some additional training specifically in helping people who want to make a change but are having trouble taking the first step.

I also have special interest in working with people from minority/marginalized groups and people with bicultural identities.

I offer in person sessions at 63rd Avenue & 112 Street in Parkallen

Edmonton as well as online sessions to clients across Alberta. Sessions with me cost 220.00 per 50 minute hour.

Things I don’t do

(No good therapist will claim to do everything well! )

I believe finding the right fit with your therapist is important to your success in therapy. I would be happy to provide referrals for couples and families, personality disorders, psychosis, and for people with intellectual disabilities.
